Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple
Anantapadmanabhaswamy temple, enshrining the tutelary deity - Anantapadmanabha of the Travancore kingdom. It is one of the grandest temples of Kerala, exhibiting an amalgamation of Dravidian and Kerala temple architectural styles.Martanda Varma of the Travancore Kingdom, in a spectacular ceremony in 1750 surrendered the kingdom to the presiding deity of the temple, and received it back as a fiefdom and ruled Travancore as a servant of Padmanabhan; all of his successors adopted this custom. Much of the present structure dates back to the period of Martanda Varma, who made several renovations and built the eastern gopuram, which got completed by 1798.Festivals: There are two annual festivals here - one in the month of Pankuni (Pisces-Meenam) March 15-April14, and the other in Aippasi (Tulaa-Libra) (Oct-Nov






THRIKKUR MAHADEVA TEMPLE, THRISSUR..
THIS IS ONE OF THE FEW CAVE TEMPLES IN KERALA. THE TEMPLE IS LOCATED ON THE TOP OF A HILLOCK. 30FT LONG AND 12FT BROAD CAVE IN THE ROCKY TOP IS NATURAL. THE HUGE SIVALINGA IS IN SOTHERN END OF THE CAVE.ABOVE THIS ON THE TOP ROCK THERE IS A WATERHOLE WHICH NEVER DRIES UP EVEN IN THE HOTTEST SUMMER.tHE TEMPLE IS CONSTRUCED WITHOUT HARMING ANY OF THE NATURAL SETUP.ONE OF THE ACHANS OF PALIAM CONSTRUCTED THE OUTER WALL AND OTHER PROTECTIVE STRUCTURS AND A GOPURAM FULLY PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT. THE BLESSING OF THE DIETY IS CONSIDERED A SURE CURE FOR ASTHMA THE ANNUAL FESTIVAL FALLS IN THE MALAYALAM MONTH OF MAKARAM (JAN-FEB)







Gosripuram - Cochin:
Gosripuram Cochin Tirumala Devaswom is the biggest and most important socio-religious institution of Gowda Saraswat Brahmins and also the biggest temple in kerala. The temple is situated at Cherlai in the heart of Mattancherry town in Cochin area which is one of the earliest settlements of GSBs in Kerala. The temple was established in the later half of 16th century. The history of GSBs in Kerala is inter-woven with that of this temple and its Venkatewara idol


Amabalapuzha Sree Krishna Temple also called Dwaraka of the South.
One of the oldest temples in kerala . Established during 15-17 AD by the ruler of chempakasherri , Sri. Devanarayan. Chembakasherri was later renamed as AmbalapuzhaThe sweet porridge made of milk, sugar and rice offered in this temple otherwise called Amabalapuzha Pal payasam is famous.

Devotees pray for release from Sarpa Dosha. Mannarsala Nagaraja Temple is one of the most important centres of snake worship in Kerala, Sree Nagaraja temple is situated at Mannarsala near Haripad town, about 35 Km away from Alappuzha on the Alappuzha-Kollam route. Mannarsala Ayilyam is the famous Festival of this Temple. It is believed that by ‘Uruhi Kamizhthal’, which is placing a bell shaped vessel upside down as an offering to the deity, childless couples are blessed with children. The sacred turmeric paste of the temple is believed to cure leprosy. The eldest Female member of the Mannarsala Family Known as ‘Amma’ is performing Pujas in the temple.

SABARIMALA AND ITS HISTORY




Sabarimala (Malayalam: ശബരിമല, Kannada: ಶಬರಿಮಲೆ , Tamil: சபரி மைல, Telugu: శబరిమల ) is a pilgrim centre in Kerala in the Western Ghat mountain ranges of India. Lord Ayyappan's temple is situated here in the midst of 18 hills. The area is in the Sahya hilly regions of Kerala in Pathanamthitta District. The temple is situated on a hilltop at an altitude of 1260 m/4135 ft. above mean sea level, and is surrounded by mountains and dense forests. Temples existed in each of the hills surrounding Sabarimala.Sabarimala is one of the most visited piligrim centres in the world with an estimated 4.5 - 5 crores devotees coming every year .The world's second largest annual pilgrimage, after Haj in Mecca, is reported to be to Sabarimala.
